Contacts: RON TOMASELLO
WHAT:
Father Michael Doyle, of Sacred Heart Church, will be honored for
his contributions to the residents of the Waterfront South Community
(South Camden) with a park named in his honor. The dedication of
Michael J. Doyle Park and Fishing Pier coincides with Father Doyle’s
35th year at Sacred Heart Church and his 75th birthday. A sign will
be unveiled during the event.
“Father
Doyle is an inspiration to my family and me,” said Freeholder
Ian Leonard. “Having a park named in his honor is truly appropriate
due to his tireless dedication to the community, and his unwavering
commitment to the residents of Camden.”
The
park, the brainchild of Father Doyle, was created in 2002 by the
Delaware River Port Authority, South Jersey Port Corporation and
the Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority. The park and its
fishing pier gave the residents of Waterfront South their first
recreational access to the Delaware River.
