Camden County Freeholders are funding a variety of Open Space and Preservation projects ranging from installation of a lighted gazebo in Hi-Nella’s Schilling Memorial Park to upgrading the USS New Jersey, the nation’s most decorated battleship.

“A total of 23 projects will benefit from this $664,750 investment from the Camden County Open Space, Recreation, Farmland and Historical Preservation Trust Fund,” said Freeholder Jeffrey L. Nash, liaison to the county’s Open Space Preservation Trust Fund Advisory Committee, following unanimous approval by governing body at its June 18 monthly meeting.

Stratford - $50,000 to preserve the Quaker Store on the White Horse Pike, the last remaining structure of the original village of White Horse and a site that hosted commercial establishments from the 1740s to the 1980s. Nash said the money will be used, among other things, to restore the second floor kitchen and bathroom, refinish floors, repair and restore windows, upgrade electric service to the second floor and the attic and install a chair lift for the disabled and repair stair treads to the second floor.
