Domestic Violence Unit:

This unit screens and investigates criminal complaints involving victims of domestic violence who are protected under The 1991 Prevention of Domestic Violence Act. These include prosecution of criminal contempt charges that are violations of restraining orders issued pursuant to the Act. The unit personnel are responsible for preparing the cases before presenting them to the Grand Jury. In addition, the staff handle weapon forfeitures and help train members of the law enforcement community in the proper procedures for investigating domestic violence cases. The unit also directs the activities of the Domestic Violence Task Force, a nightly patrol function in the City of Camden.
